Marilyn Monroe's Stuffing

by Howie Hart » Sun Nov 14, 2010 10:11 am

I've always been a big Marilyn Monroe fan and found the recipe for stuffing attributed to her and the NY Times article fascinating. Here's a link: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/10/dining/10marilyn.html?emc=eta1 . I don't think I'll make it for Thanksgiving, but maybe over the Christmas holidays.

Fascinating read. I did not know that Joltin Joe eschewed garlic to "assimilate"

For those who may have had trouble reading the scrawling on the original in her handwriting, I typed it out, including the mis-spelled words.

Marilyn Monroe’s Stuffing

No garlic
Sourdough French bread – soak in cold water, then wring out.
For chicken – giblets, liver, heart – boil in water 5-10 min. Then chop
1 whole or 1/2 onion – chop (0 parsley) four stalk celery – chop
Following spices - put in rosemarie – thyme – bay leaf – oregano – poultry season – salt – pepper – grated cheese (parmisain) 1 handful
1/2 to 1/4 lb ground round – put in frying pan (no oil) then mix
raisan - 1 1/2 cups or more
1 cup chop nuts – walnuts, chestnuts, pienuts
1 or 2 hard boiled eggs – chopped
mix together
salt and pepper inside of chicken or turkey – outside same and butter
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.

And how many people, upon seeing the title, thought about other aspects of Ms. Monroe? (psssttt.. Jenise?)

Not guilty this time! Perhaps only because I had already read about it elsewhere, so I knew what Howie was getting at, but still.

Stuffing Marilyn Monroe? Nothing salacious about that!

Jenise - not into boiled eggs as a bulker for stuffings? Makes sense just as much as grains, no?
