Tonight, my favorite wife and I went to a catered reception for the opening night of Tennessee William's "Suddenly Last Summer" (one of the perks of writing for an arts magazine). I was leaning on the bar perusing the wines, some cab savs and Gruet brut champagne. I opted for the champagne.
The server took off the wire on another bottle and turned around. Bam! The cork blew off and suddenly there were some geyser effects.
I moved around to the end of the bar roughly 18 inches from the wines. Gotta get close, you know. I was holding my glass of bubbly when the server took the wire off another bottle. Bam! And suddenly half my drink was on the floor. Luckily there was plenty more.
Okay--so you had to be there.
