Yoshi ceramic knife - deal or no deal?

by Jon Peterson » Tue Oct 26, 2010 8:59 am

Bed Bath & Beyond has a Yoshi ceramic knife (maybe 5") and ceramic peeler on sale for $20 and I have a $5 coupon (who dosen't?) bring the cost to $15. I understand that this is a "made for TV knife" but is this any kind of a deal? Is the knife at least decent? (I admit, I've often wanted to try a ceramic knife but do not own one.)

I'm sure it is not as good as demonstrated on TV, but could be a nice addition at that price. One thing that I noticed in the commercials is that it is not good for meat. When they show it, the meat wiggles all over the place.

I've been very happy with my Kyocera knives and the customer service from the company is excellent. They are more expensive, however I've had them for years and they are still sharp, you just have to remember they are not used to pry, or work around bone. They are great for chopping fruits and veggies and slicing meats such as pork tenderloin.

I'd guess, Karen, that your Kyoceras are several steps above the Yoshi at BB&B but for $15, I think I'll give it a try.
