Giving up meat without resorting to vegetarianism?

It can be done. Apparently, a UN organization is promoting the idea. There's an article on it here.

Personally, I think I'll just stick with cutting back on my meat consumption...

That just grosses me out. I think I'll go have a big bowl of peel-your-own shrimp.

Don't knock it all. I'll agree that scorpions might be a bit problematic but I can vouch for roasted locusts. Next time they swarm in your area give me a buzz and I'll tell you how to catch and cook them.

Let them eat bugs...as for me, as long as I can have wild caught fish, chicken, a pork chop, and a perfectly grilled steak now and then, I'm happy. Oh, and in winter, the occasional braised beef shanks, keep me happy , as well! :D We don't overdo it with any meat, fowl or fish. The biggest part of our consumption is greens, fruits and grain /beans . oh and wine, of course.

Think about peel-your-own shrimp for a little while, though.

I've seen some water bugs (a.k.a. roaches) in Thailand that were bigger than most shrimp, and according to some, tastier. Have to admit I've never tried them.
