Trader Joe's Peaches

Trader Joe's is offering 4 lb. boxes of peaches for 4.99. When I was there two days ago, I spotted them and noticed how beautiful they were. I was on a mission on borrowed time and did not stop to inspect. Anyone have any experience with their peaches.

Peaches specifically no, but in general the few times I've bought fruit there I've found whatever it was to be somewhat tasteless so I avoid. It's like they pick them forever ago and preserve them some kind of gas so they look good, but inside the flavor's long gone. Could well be a regional problem, though--they might get local fruit in your area that's better than what we see here.

I'm thinking you are right. Peaches are in season here right now anyway, so I think I will stick to the ones at the Farmer's Market. The season is so short that I like to find ways to extend it, however. I would not buy a box unless they cut open a peach for me to taste and I am certain they have a batch in the back for the employees. People always seem to be coming out of there chomping on something.
