First local corn of the season

Yum! I always buy it from a stand run by friends up the road from me. Just wolfed down 2 ears.

WOW, is this local corn in New York already? I have not seen local corn in Redding as of yet, other than in the supermarket. We had a lot of company over the weekend and I got 10 ears of white, very sweet corn at Raley's. I was good, but I can't wait for the local stuff.

Seems a bit early, but if Howie gives it Yums, so be it.

I'm with ya Howie. Tonight's supper is new potatoes, onions, okra and sweet corn, all locally grown and from the Downtown Farmer's Market yesterday. Also steamed chicken breast from the local butcher shop, although I can't hazard a guess as to the actual provenance of the bird.

Many folks don't realize that close to Lake Ontario many crops can be planted early because the moderating effect of the lake prevents late Spring frosts. There are many peach orchards along the lake that ripen in late August and September.

It's been at farmers' markets here for a couple of weeks, Bill. Mary picked some up last Saturday and we had it for lunch.

I need to get out more. Picked up some local corn a guy was selling out of the bed of his pick-up truck about 2 miles from home. Looks like it will be brats and sweet corn for dinner.
