Leftover brownies...what to do with them?

by Maria Samms » Mon Jun 21, 2010 6:51 pm

I am not a dessert person either, but I have a bunch of store-bought leftover brownies (they weren't great to begin with) from some parties this weekend. I was wondering if there is anything I can do (besides chuck them...I hate wasting food). Any ideas?

Crumble them to make a layer in an ice cream parfait? Maybe add some fresh strawberries?

I would only differ on the choice of berries, and elect fresh raspberries instead.

They are great in parfaits Maria, I put some Kahlua in a spritzer bottle one time and spritzed the crumbs, then used them in parfaits for the adults. By the time you layer the ice cream, brownies and raspberries (good choice) one will never know.
You could also make a raspberry puree as an additional layer, on top.

I'm also in the "crumble and douse with alcohol" camp. (I recently tried to improve so-so brownies by burying them with ice cream. Didn't work.)

Not the answer you want but I find that the best option is to leave them by the microwave at work. They usually disappear in about an hour. Sometimes, the pan is even cleaned for me.

I often bring unwanted calories into work. Although everyone is on a diet I can move 1,000,000 calories into stomachs between 11am and 2pm.
