I can't wait!

by Bob Henrick » Mon Jun 21, 2010 6:47 pm

I got my garden in late this spring due to wet weather, but my tomatoes are really coming on like gangbusters! I must have 40+ tomatoes ranging anywhere from thumbnail, to tennis ball size. So, I suspect I am maybe 2 weeks away from enjoying one, and I am anxious, I guess I will just eat the ones I buy at the Farmers Market. These aren't bad, but they "ain't" red ripe off the vine either! Anyone have fresh maters from their garden yet?

A few Sun Gold Cherry toms, one red Cherry...the others are growing bigger and looking a little pink. Oh, and one yellow pear tom needs picking.

Bob, like you, we've got tons of blossoms and quite a bit of green fruit. In Louisville, tomatoes traditionally ripen in the week or so following the Fourth of July. You might know this better as a retired weather guesser, but it's my impression that Lexington and the surrounding regions might lag just slighty behind the Ohio River Valley.
