Or eaten raw right out of the shell...mine never see heat! When in season, I eat them for breakfast, and lunch.

Yes indeed. We had some today to go with the remains of our sous vide lamb.

I ate more that my fair share while shelling them, but I do love just a little heat and seasoning - brings out the sweetness even more.

As for the breakfast thing - unless they are in an omelet, yuck. I have always been a traditional breakfast guy. I cannot understand having veggies, pasta or even cold pizza for breakfast.

Yea, I know..it's a guy thing. I eat cold, veggie pizza for breakfast too, when we have it, never pasta, but the other morning I ate some Farmer's Market asparagus, I had roasted the night before. Had two left and they tasted great with my strawberries! :)

My #1 most favorite breakfast in the world is creamed peas seasoned with lemon juice and an over-the-top dose of white pepper. Mmmmmm.

For Dad's Day, my 11-year-old cooked up a dish of homemede tagliatelle (made with only a little help from me) with cream, ham, and fresh peas. Made me a proud and happy dad.

Oh, yeah! Now that's breakfast!

I've never had fresh peas - I'm sure I would like them.

!!!!

We've been enjoying the peas from the market and last night had a tasty side dish of peas and radishes briefly sauteed in butter.

But I must admit that as far as summer vegetables go, peas are not in my 'top tier' of eggplant, tomatoes, and corn. Those make me absolutely weak in the knees.

Either way, summer food is great.

Yes, summer food is great. What is so great about living in the valley, surrounded by mountains on three sides is that when the spring produce ends here, the mountain people have just begun to bring the spring produce in. The same process applies to summer crops too. We are still getting cilantro, radish, arugula, parsley, peas, spinach and lettuce from the folks in the higher elevations, while valley growers are bringing in peaches, cherries, all the berries, green beans, asparagus, summer squash and even a few winter stuff like onions, carrots and garlic.

Stop by in August for some corn from a farm 300 yards from our house. Yours knees won't be weak, they'll be rubber.

August here is not much fun, but in MD it meant fresh sweet corn and peaches right off the tree!

Sounds pretty ideal, Karen. I envy you!
