Just when you thought it was safe to turn on the TV

by Jenise » Sun May 09, 2010 7:55 am

From a website called Deadlline Hollywood: CBS has ordered a pilot for a daytime cooking game show starring Emeril Lagasse. The untitled project, produced from FremantleMedia, will be filmed in front of a live audience and will feature members of the studio audience competing against each other for a prize in preparing a dish under the supervision of the famous TV chef. The pilot, based on an original concept, is eyed as a replacement for CBS’ departing daytime soap As The World Turns.

Two personal points:

(a) I have never watched "As The World Turns"
(b) I have no intention whatever to watch this replacement.

I wonder if they have a questionnaire before the show asking about knife skills, and just general knowledge of cooking. Seems like a recipe for disaster, to me, or maybe lots of comical mistakes.

Sounds like we have sunk to a new low looking for entertainment. But then, I thought Dr. Phil was doomed to failure after one season. What do i know! :?

I would not call this a new low. It actually sounds like something you might see on the BBC.

Yeah, well, I remember thinking a place that sells little cheap burgers with both mustard and ketchup on them and has this big "M" out front ain't gonna last very long.

The BBC had (has?) a similar show called "Can't Cook, Won't Cook".
