I got to try some seal sausage the other day. Yes, it was from one of those cute little seals that get clubbed over the head. As a culinary professional I felt obligated to try it.

When did I ever say that I ate puffins? The seal sausage was dried and very dense. It had a distinctive liver taste and was very fatty (go figure). I wouldn't say that I was sold on the flavor as I can't stand the taste of liver (fois gras, and certain pates excepted). But, like I said, I had to try it.

And kitty cats are kind of stringy, so they're not really my thing.

The puffin thing was in regards to Jenise's post on Icelandic food.

(And damn you for getting that in one minute ahead of me, David!!! :) )

That is correct, sir. But I'll make an exception for one slice of seal sausage.

I just finished downloading pictures from my two trailcams that are on my 15 acres of woods, and out of some 680-odd pictures from the past week, at least 500 are of a friggin' HORSE that's been hanging around my blueberry patch, and the salt block I put out for the deer. I was joking with Gail (well, only half-joking) that the white patch behind the horse's left front shoulder would make a dandy sighting point for the new 45-70 rifle. I always have wondered what horse tastes like...

Well, Robert, if you ever do decide to do away with that horse... it's not that different from beef, but leaner. I've only tried it raw.

Robert, I tasted seal once in Alaska. There's a camera store in Anchorage that puts on a wild game sampler every year on the day the Iditarod starts, and which event occurs pretty much in front of their store. I remember walking in and a guy offering me a glass of Franzia boxed wine. Ooh ick no, I thought, as I turned down it down. Then I started tasting the game--and when I got to the seal, which was about 84 times fishier than the fishiest fish I've ever tasted, I went and found the guy with the wine in a box and BEGGED for a glass. It remains to this day the absolute worst thing I've ever eaten.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Jenise, I wasn't to crazy about it, either.
