Walk in the woods

A walk in the woods is rarely wasted time, and today's walk had a bonus.

These will add a bit of spice to a risotto I'm preparing for dinner this evening.

Carl - I feel your pain. We were snowed in for about 10 weeks. I'm glad it's over.

I'd walk in the woods today 'cept it's Turkey season. Figgered I'd be a prime target.

Lucky you, Alan. What did you do with them?

A search of the woods, though, turned up no more, alas.

Mark - Are you sure they are morels? They don't quite look it to me. There is a mushroom variety similar to morels that are bad for you and unless you are certain I would seek advice.

Yes, the photo doesn't do them justice, but they're classic (yellow) morels. In fact, the acid test (consumption with no ill effects) occurred last night so not Gyromitra esculenta.
