Cholula Chipotle

by Hoke » Tue Apr 06, 2010 1:20 pm

There have been previous posts on fave hot sauces, and I'm on record as liking the Cholula.

Now it's the "Cholula Original", because Cholula has a Chipotle.

And of course I had to try it.

Pretty good. The vinegary tang of Cholula Original is much lessened and now the dominant flavor is the smokiness of the Chipotle. Which you'd figure, right.

But the nice thing is that the smokiness is not overt, nor does it taste artificial.

I liked it.

I suspect for pepperheads, it would elicit either sneers or shrugs. Mark Lipton wouldn't even be able to taste the modest heat, and Melinda---the regular, not the Triple XXX---would totally obliterate this mild sauce.

But it does have decent flavor, and sprinkled on eggs or hash or in soups, it works pretty well.

I've been using Cholula Chipotle and it is growing on me .There is still the vinegary element , but with the smokey flavor. I love Tabasco Chipotle the best.
