Mike,
I’m getting kind of concerned about you. First you said you were watching COPS (by the way, Dog the Bounty Hunter is the Petrus of those types of shows, so shame on you for lowering your standards) and now you are watching Mr. T infomercials?? Ya know, if you press that remote cable channel button enough times you will find something called the ESPN channel. Just a suggestion.
In all seriousness and speaking of Ron Popeil, I had to return a duplicate Christmas gift last week. The return required “Manager Approval” and the Manager was out of the store for a bit so I walked around the warehouse floor while waiting for him to return. I spotted one of those rotisserie ovens Ron Popeil pushes on TV and there was a huge sticker on the unit that read, “THE SET IT AND FORGET IT ADVICE SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN LITERALLY!”
Underneath that exclamation was a lengthy disclaimer about how one should not actually “set it and forget it” because leaving an unattended small oven cooking things like greasy foods could result in a fire.
Who would have known? I typically come home from the tavern every night, throw some chicken in my RONCO oven and pass out while it is cooking only to wake up and find a perfectly charred chicken and no fire. Ok, maybe some smoke that sets off the fire alarm, but definitely no actual flames.
I think they have gone overboard on the product warnings.
