I keep losing this place

by Skye Astara » Thu Dec 03, 2009 12:33 am

I'm sure that nobody here remembers me anymore, but I've been around, off and on for a long time. Jenise even sent some Kaffir Lime leaves to me ~10 years ago? Something like that.

Anyway, after several unsuccessful attempts to find this forum over the past couple of years, I'm back. For whatever that's worth LOL

Hi Skye! Don't worry - we've been keeping a place at the table for you all along. Glad to see you found your way back. Now tell us what you've been up to all this time. I think I remember that you had a roommate or partner that you cooked for, and I'm a-thinking you were in California but well north of L.A.

Skye!!!!

You're definitely remembered. The kaffir lime leaves--that would have been approximately 1999. Happy Anniversary and welcome back!

Wow, thank you!

Mike, I did live in California, in the Nevada City/Grass Valley area (near Tahoe, in the mountains, so quite a bit north of LA- more or less northeast of San Francisco or Sacramento). I recently moved to Oregon though, and live on the coast, less than half a mile from the beach in Bandon. It's lovely- perfect weather for me (no summer heat at all, and cold but not frigid winters), stunning scenery, beautiful Old Town, lots to do. I do miss where I moved from, I loved it there too, but in many ways this is an improvement.

Before I last lost my way here, I think that I was pregnant or maybe had just had a baby. He just turned 3 years old, and is experimenting with pickiness (he turned down crab-stuffed portabella caps tonight, very surprising) but I'm hoping that will be a short phase and he'll be back to eating the things that I like to cook, and that my 12 year old son likes to eat, soon enough. He's never had a chicken nugget or whatever else kids are supposed to only like. He's somewhat of an enigma to me sometimes, though, as he dislikes both asparagus and avocado. Which are, in my opinion, two of the most perfect foods.
