It's Thanksgiving...again!

by Linda R. (NC) » Sun Nov 29, 2009 3:25 pm

In a few hours we will be doing Thanksgiving #2. Some friends of ours are bringing a turkey and I'm doing the sides and dessert. I have a pecan pie cooling, green beans cooked awaiting transformation into garlic green beans, a small casserole of stuffing to reheat, and I'll be making mac and cheese shortly.

Thanksgiving #1 was traditional with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes & gravy, curried onions, green bean casserole, assorted cranberry dishes, bread and pumpkin pie.

Anyone else have multiple Thanksgivings?

No, but we usually have Thanksgiving dinner once over the summer, Len loves it so much.

We often have Thanksgiving twice: My brother and I don't make Dad choose which dinner to attend. So, one of us gets Thursday and the other gets Saturday.

You all have sturdier constitutions than me. I don't think I'd survive two of those suppers in short order!

I don't know about that. We feel like we have a lot in common with the turkeys - stuffed!

We usually do - once at out house with Linda's family and once at my brother's with my family, but this year I was stuck at home with a broken ankle (mind, this was back in October :-). It's so annoying having to have two complete dinners of turkey, dressing, gravy and pumpkin pie with whipped cream. that I usually have two helpings of everything!

We'll definitely have two Christmas dinners, though - again, once with each family.

Anyone read Mutts in the comics? I just looked at Sunday's paper and Mutts absolutely describes the Thanksgiving eating experience. Here is a link.

I seldom laugh out loud at the comics, but I did at Sunday's Mutts. The artist drew it perfectly.
