Koodie? Seriously?

by ScottD » Wed Nov 18, 2009 4:13 pm

"Koodie -noun Slang. A kid keenly interested in food, especially eating, cooking or watching reruns of Julia Child. A kid who has an ardent or refined interest in food; a mini-gourmet; usually trained by one or both parents to have an unusual, and sometimes fanatic, desire to eat unusual foods. Evolution from the now defunct word "foodie"."

If it is, I'm not aware. In fact, someone just called me a foodie last night.
Hello. My name is Carrie, and I...I....still like oaked Chardonnay. (Please don't judge.)

Well, if someone is determined to put you into a convenient box... (like wine guru or cellar rat  ) the alternatives of "Gourmet", "Gourmand" or "Glutton" are almost worse, with the first being horribly pretensious and the other two hardly flattering either. I like food, and know a bit about it and I don't find it unbearable as an epithet.

Ha! We'll you have a good point there, Shel. When I was a kid, a cootie was "boy germs". There's a totally different meaning these days.
