Does this mean the end of Bourdain?

Tony's got some history, not all of it good; I'd hate to see them screw with No Reservations. And Zimmern too, although I don't really care that much for his style. There's a handful of shows that I try to catch on Travel, hope they don't dumb it down the way they've done with the Food Network.

Scripps Networks Interactive Inc. agreed to buy a controlling stake in the Travel Channel from Cox Communications Inc., trumping a bid by News Corp. in a deal that values the cable-television network at $975 million.

The network became the center of a bidding competition after Atlanta-based Cox said in June that it had received unsolicited inquiries for the asset. Scripps Networks, the owner of Food Network, HGTV and the DIY Network, gets a channel distributed in about 95 million U.S. homes, with shows including “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations,” “Man v. Food,” “Madventures” and “Most Haunted.”

Guess this is only marginally food related, feel free to move elsewhere if you like.

Scott, I think this is the perfect place to discuss this! Bourdain's celebrity has everything to do with food, and that has everything to do with why those of who watch his show watch his show. I can't believe they'd mess with him--it works, he's popular. And the kind of person who doesn't like him has plenty of tamer stuff to watch instead.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Speaking of, Bourdain will be in Tulsa next June giving a talk. I think Gail and I will attend, as it is sure to be entertaining! Maybe I can get my copy of Kitchen Confidential autographed.
