Dinner and "dessert" music

by Larry Greenly » Sun Oct 04, 2009 10:57 am

Many moons ago, I posited the question about what is the best seduction music for dinner and afterwards. After intensive and exhausting study, here's what seems to work in this household, titles depending on the circumstances:

Soft jazz
1. Keiko Matsui (I now have a number of her CDs and some of them are perfect).
2. Jacky Terrasson, A Paris

New Agey
1. Enya

And, of course, Frank Sinatra.

There are others, of course, but I'm always looking for new music. Have you discovered any new faves since my original question?

I've always liked the Solitudes recordings - nature sounds set to music. One is entitled "Natural Stress Relief", and works very well for that. :)

I have always liked the thought of Richard Wagner's The Cry of the Valkyries as a coital incentive. Alas, I have yet to try it as I suspect most women would be caught up not in bursts of longing but of hysterical laughter.

We have several of David Wilson's CD's, the two I have out now are "The Romance of Paris" and "there's a small hotel. I also love Gary Richard's Island Fever. It has exotic island bird calls like those made famous by the Martin Denny Group in the 1950's, with sexy sounds of surf guitars, some Reggae from Jamaica and the rhythms of Trinidad, Cuba, Puerto Ric, Antilles, etc. Really nice when folks first arrive and as the energy picks up with the first few sips of wine. Of course, since we grew up in the 50's and started adult life in the 60's we have all the great albums of Martin Denny, Trini Lopez, The Carpenters, and so many more. David Wilson is also nice to play during dessert.

Best seduction music?

"Now this is the most important, Rat. When it comes down to making out, whenever possible, put on side one of Led Zeppelin IV".

Nothing worked better for me than Debussy's Clair de Lune, I also like Chopin's solo piano pieces (Mazurkas, Sonatas).

I prefer Tony Bennett to Frank Sinatra, but that's just me :-)
Best Regards
