Fancy Fast Food

by Robin Garr » Sat Sep 26, 2009 11:32 am

This link was posted on LouisvilleHotBytes.com and I just had to share. It's so wrong in so many ways, yet it is strangely hilarious and seductively appealing ... until you read the recipes. :P

Perhaps this is the new trend in fast food - keeping the conveniance and calories but giving more of a quality, freshness and fanciful impression. I was in the drive-up lane at taco bell a couple times this summer (go ahead and turn up your noses if you must) but even they have "upscaled" at least the impression of the food and its delivery. They now pass a cardboard tray out the window to you. No more sacks (at least not as the main carrier). The tacos or items are all nicely lined up in the tray...

Perhaps the most important thing is that it HAS improved the food (to my taste). Sure it's still "fast food" but my hard shells are now always fresh and well... actually hard! Less smushy food and just more stylistic care and quality of the food (at least in its look and freshness).

Of course I'm not 100% positive this is a nationwide move by Taco Bell but I assume so. I can't imagine why they would just be doing this at the ones here in Michigan ;)

As always, I think we must make the separation between "fast food" and "junk food". Indeed not all food that is "fast" is junk", and separating out what is and what is not worthwhile eating can be a challenge but often a challenge worth meeting.

Clever. So they're taking processed food and processing it some more in an attempt to make it more appealing..hahaha

That's pretty inventive! And gross :) So that's what Erik Trinidad is up to nowadays. He had a blog on his travels around the world a few years back that I was addicted to.

I think it's funny. But I want to know, where is the recipe for Spam Wellington?
