Seeking June 1994 Bon Appetit Magazine Recipe

by Clint Hall » Fri Aug 28, 2009 12:06 am

From our household's several years' collection of Bon Appetit magazines we've somehow lost the June 1994 issue, which contains on page 29 a marvelous recipe for "Beet, Arugula, Mint and Goat Cheese Salad," and for the corresponding salad dressing. Does anyone have a copy of he magazine? If so we would be eternally grateful if you could post it along with the salad dressing.

Clint - you might want to try posting a new thread here: http://www.bonappetit.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=3.

Clint,

A bit of Googling did not turn up that recipe. I do have three avenues you might pursue:

1. I reviewed Project Foodie and did not see that recipe, so... are you sure?
http://www.projectfoodie.com/index2.php? option=com_pfrecipetracker&action=tagIDs&magFil[]=3&yrFil[]=1994
(( I can't make this URL clickable because of the square brackets and the forum software inserts ellipses if I leave it whole. Sigh. Well, unless one of the janitors can fix this thing, I am going to leave it in two pieces. You'll have to copy/paste it into the address bar and remove the extra space between the ? and "option". Sorry. ))

2. About two years ago, someone at Epicurious answered a question re the same issue... perhaps they will again if you ask nicely?

3. When all else fails, use the silver spoon:

HTH.

We are likely to have that issue somewhere in our house. I'll have to wait until my wife gets back in town to find out where it might be hiding, though. She gets back tomorrow so I'll let you know what she says.

I don't have the magazine, but I did a search on Epicurious' board for it about an hour ago. They have many beet/arugula recipes from back issues of BA on file, but not the particulr one you seek, Clint.

Thank you all: Howie, Mike Jeff, and jenise. I tried Howie's link to bonneppetite.com, which didn't go back as far as 1994 but referred me to eicurious.com, which produced not one but four recipes for beet arugula, mint and oat cheese salads, which included the dressings, which actually was what I was after. We put together the salad and slathered on the dressing at an Oregon Pinot wine dinner tonight.
