Help! I need Nashville dining reccos for my boss!

by Robert Reynolds » Tue Aug 04, 2009 11:30 pm

My boss asked me for dining recommendations for her (and her husband's) trip to Nashville. He's already there, starting a month of training to be an IRS agent. She joins him for 2 weeks beginning this Friday, and has never been there before. My only trips there have been to go to the airport or pass through, so I'm no help. And I know this should be in travel section but I figured more of you frequent travelers would see it here first.
So, any suggestions? Also, what's there to do in Nashville after the obligatory evening at the Grand Ol' Opry?

It's been a few years. I used to go to Nashville for my son's lacrosse games.

If he's a steak kinda guy, there's Fleming's - also a pretty good wine list there. Other joints are the Sunset Grille, Capitol Grille, and the Mad Platter, another good wine list here.

It's been many years but I also had good meals at The Wild Boar.

It's fine here, Robert; actually, I think this is where restaurant/dining talk SHOULD be. (And am currently lobbying for that change.) Jason Hagen discussed Nashville restaurants here somewhere, he's in the music biz and of course an intense wine/foodie, so he had some suggestions for someone awhile back. You might try a Search....

Hey 1K!

I was in Nashville a couple of years ago and had a blast! I sought recommendations here, and Jason Hagen was kind enough to provide lots of good suggestions.

We went to Scott's Grille, which at the time offered complimentary shuttle service from most hotels (something my husband and I definitely needed to take advantage of after a most unusual afternoon...a story for another day). Anyway, the food was fabulous and nice wine list. We could go back in a heartbeat.

Hopefully, your boss will be so appreciative of your research here she will give you a big raise!

Robert, another source of restaurant information is Chowhound. This online community is segregated geographically. My perception is that the community focuses less on fine dining and more on every day restaurants that are not expensive....possibly what your boss is looking to find. I find that the reccos tend to be pretty accurate too.

The web site will have existing discussion threads that are searchable. And you can start a new one if information isn't available. Here's one that might be useful: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/621982
Cheers!
Mike
