Rochester, New York Restaurants

by Covert » Sat Jul 25, 2009 4:15 pm

I won't hold my breath, but has anyone who enjoys decent cuisine ever run into a decent restaurant in this city? I am obliged to travel there occasionally, and last week, after looking around a bit, could not find any good food. Googling top Rochester restaurants returns burger, heaping plate, American Chinese joints, etc., only. It appears that Tastings, owned by Wegmans, as is Century Wine and Liquor, might have a chance of being good, but it is closed on Sundays, which is when I will be there next.

If you don't mind a short drive west of Rochester (near Batavia), you could go to the Red Osier, noted for prime rib. http://www.redosier.com/
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.

Hi Howie,

Thanks a lot for the suggestion. My wife loves prime rib, but only lets us eat it about once a year. :( Not that we don't eat artery clogging lamb and such more often. She's pretty much got me on a fish and fowl diet, so we look for restaurants that do a good job with that kind of stuff.
