Top Chef Masters. Anyone watching?

by Carrie L. » Fri Jul 03, 2009 8:50 am

Many of us enjoy the Top Chef series on BRAVO, and some may not know there is a new version on right now that features "already" Top Chefs (famous ones) competing as foursomes with the winner of each going onto a finale. They are competing for charity (each episode winner's charity gets $100K), and they all seem to be very generous in spirit. It's good TV.

The episodes repeat often so my DVR was able to grab all of the current episodes (three, I think) and I watched them this week.

Has anyone else seen it?
Hello. My name is Carrie, and I...I....still like oaked Chardonnay. (Please don't judge.)

I've been watching and enjoying it. Especially fun are the chefs that have been judges on Top Chef. I was bummed it wasn't on this week, but a new episode is on next week.

I think each week's winner gets $10,000, and the final winner gets $100,000 for charity.

Carrie,

I hadn't seen it until yesterday morning, when I watched the episode that Susan Traacht won. You're right, it's good TV; I thoroughly enjoyed it. I look forward to catching the rest--if I recognized him correctly from the Rogues Gallery they put Susan's picture into at the end, Hubert Keller already won the first round.

Who's the beautiful host? I've never seen her before.

Jenise, I'm glad you liked it. Figured you would. I'm looking forward to the next episode. Len's Mom is here with us for a few weeks so I've been making her watch it with me, but I think it may move a little too fast for her. Hoping she catches on.

I wasn't familiar with Kelly Choi either. Here's her bio from the Bravo site. Doesn't she smile exactly like Giadda?

Kelly Choi is an acclaimed food journalist and creator, producer and host of NYC TV's weekly restaurant show Eat Out NY. A former model, Choi recently finished her first book The 20 Most Delicious Dishes in New York, which is set to hit stores in spring of 2009.

As producer and host of Eat Out NY, Choi chooses every restaurant featured on the program, then ventures to the back of the house – the kitchen – to prepare a dish with the chef. She is also host of the nationally syndicated and Emmy award-winning Secrets of New York, a weekly show that reveals little-known facts and mysteries about Manhattan. Topics include secrets of the city's subway system, skyscrapers, sewers, and even jails.

Choi has been a judge on Iron Chef America, and has received multiple Emmy nominations from the New York chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for her work on NYC TV. Born in Seoul, Korea, Choi won the Elite Modeling Agency’s “Look of the Year” contest, and has been voted as "One of the Sexiest New Yorkers" by the New York Post. She has a Masters degree in magazine writing from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.

Oh, is that all she's done? What a slug. :)
