...have placed your order for one of these? I mean, now that it's been redesigned with 18 larger holes, how can you resist?

Getting (somewhat) serious here, I've never understood the appeal of stuffing Jalapeños. For the effort involved, I'd much rather stuff a Poblano, New Mexico or Anaheim and get more out of it. I prefer a more active role in fire-blackening chilies anyhow: I usually spit them on a metal skewer and roast over the flame of my gas range. If I'm in a rush, I'll just dip 'em in a deep-fryer for a couple of seconds, which is enough time to blacken and blister them.

I'll pass. I like 'em stuffed with cheddar, wrapped with bacon, battered and deep-fried. Had them that way at a Wichita steakhouse once, and that is my new standard.

We bought one of those gadgets at a place in Redding that makes custom BBQ stuff, years ago. Used it once. It does not have 18 holes however. I tend to overstuff, so the melted cheese sort of left the hole and ran out all over the gadget.

A popular thing here in my neighborhood is to stuff them with neufchatel cream cheese, wrap in bacon and broil. Still not exactly healthy, but marginally better than battered and fried. However, if that strikes you as being as interesting as, oh, say potato chips that are baked instead of fried, I would understand. The joneses can't always be switched.

But I'm with Mark. I'll go to a lot of work for a lot of things, but somehow I don't see myself wanting to stuff little jalapenos anytime soon.

I don't eat them often (maybe once a year), and I eat baked potato chips.

Try 'em without the batter and grill them. Also excellent.

I'll second that!

Before I clicked I thought maybe you were talking about a Takoyaki pan. I have been THIS close to buying one of those.

I am nowhere near close to buying a Jalapeño roaster. Mmmm, Takoyaki. Tako = octopus. If they made these in Mexico they would call them Tako Tacos.
