Soft Pretzels

Made a batch of soft pretzels following Alton Brown's recipe and technique. These things are really good when still warm and covered in mustard. -RP

Boy are those GORGEOUS. I adore soft pretzels. How tricky are they to make?

they don't look much like the philadelphia version - which is sort of famous. the best place is the reading terminal market where virginal amish girls make and bake them in front of you. just wonderful. the main differences are that the photo ones are fatter and more well done - well darker anyway.

David, I almost hate myself for taking the bait, but how do you know they're virginal?

Nice, Randy...I used Alton Brown's recipe for my blog post http://www.babettefeasts.com/2009/03/wake-up-make-soft-pretzels.html and someone--Celia, was it you?--did their own post and altered Alton's recipe by adding some whole wheat flour, which really sounded appealing to me...

These are as good as the Reading Terminal Market's pretzels...I've done the eating--er, the "research," I mean--to know.
