I haven't tried this particular drink, Dave, but there are many benefits, health and otherwise, for this plant, apart from the unlawful uses. A good book on the subject is "The Great Book of Hemp". The Amazon link lets you read some of the more interesting parts.

The Wikipedia entry on these uses needs work but is a good overview. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemp

No, but I once made 'safe' hemp brownies to take to a 70's party, found the mix at the local Food Co-op. :)

No, but I've eaten hemp cereal from Trader Joe's (lots of Omega-3s).

The juxtaposition of hemp and food just strikes me as odd. Other than 60s brownies (which I assure you had taste as a far from primary consideration) I think of rope, not food when I hear the word.

Can't help thinking that eating a bunch of hemp would be like smoking a brussel sprout...using something in an unusual way.

Strangely, liquid rope would be a good description for the brownie mix I bought. Had to add more sugar and quite a bit of cocoa to get the flavor up.

Sounds like the brown equivalent of zucchini. Bulks anything out, but as far as taste is concerned, anything made with zucchini tastes just as good without the zucchini.....
