For all you sourdough fans

by Bob Henrick » Mon Mar 09, 2009 9:06 am

Especially "C"! I have read with interest and enjoyment every post made here regarding baking and especially baking sourdough in all it's forms. So, I decided that I would give serious consideration to making a sourdough starter of my own, I went looking and found sources for dried starter (some for sale and some for free) and will order more than one type. I found the page at the Link below that I thought really fun and thought that perhaps some others would too. Have a look.

We used to a lot of sourdough baking, but none at all in recent years. So, last weekend we checked the starter in the back of the fridge. It was deader than dead. Had an awful hard time cleaning out the crock. It (the crock) is OK now and you are tempting us to start over again!

Bobby, this is where I got mine from. Teresa is a nice lady, and her starters are great. I just wrote about my paranoia when I was ordering the starter...I thought the police would come for me when the little packets of white powder came in the mail! :)

I've used Teresa's Northwest starter and San Francisco starter for years now.

Thanks Larry, and I am asking! did you click on the link in my original? I thought that was so interesting to see the different rates of work the different starters actually put forth. Seems like the Alaska starter is a work alcoholic!. I am thinking that once I get things lined out and am able to start trying to make bread, I would cook my sourdough loaves on my Kamado cooker. I know I make a nuisance of myself in talking about the Kamado, but really it CAN DO about anything that can be done in an oven. AND, I can get that wood fired smoke infused flavor too. I have been using the red pepper powder so much lately that even my grandkids want to know if I put it in their Omelets.

I think you have my email address so if you have misplaced my snail mail addy, just ask.
