Spring is just around the corner

by Howie Hart » Thu Feb 26, 2009 3:59 pm

Today is overcast, but no wind and the temps went up to the low 40s. There was no precipitation and the roads were clear and dry, so I hopped on my motorcycle and drove it over to Teds, a local hot dog chain that has been featured on Travel Channel's Hot Dog Heavens. A foot-long with the works, an medium loganberry and an order of onion rings. Their onion rings are actually misnamed. What you get is a pile of sliced broken sweet onions (Ok a few are actually rings) battered and deep fried. However, the batter coating does not stick to the onions very well, so you are eating cooked onions with crumbs - delicious! I think I'll take a nap. 8)
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.

Uh. Yeah, sure. I can tell by the half inch of snow we've gotten literally in the last 5 minutes. This is the view out the front window. I can't even see the hospital a block away.

Yup, that looks like Spring is already there, Cyn. Good thing for you guys that you got a mild Winter this year. :P

Hey, Ted's is great. I've eaten at the one on 62 a couple of times, once with my brother who is a fan of the "Road Food" places (don't know if Ted's was in one of the Stern's books, but it is on the website), and once with Teri on our way back from dropping off my daughter with her mother. Teri has told me we'll be back again...

60-ish here today. It's interesting. We're still way behind on rainfall and snowpack for the winter, but there's a lot of precip scheduled to come in next week. It's actually possible that we could be dealing with flooding at the same time that they're starting major cutbacks in water delivery. Gotta love California!

No sign of spring around here. We got seventeen inches of snow Sunday night, and there was hardly any place to put it. We lost power in the process, and the generator quit too! More snow due on the coming Sunday.

Having had most of its leaves scorched off in the recent heat wave, my flowering cherry tree thinks it's spring - it is sprouting some new leaves and trying to flower!

Mildest winter ever. 74 degrees in midweek. Our bulbs are very confused.

Just come on up here with a bucket. There's plenty of water for everyone.
