Health Nuts Do Not Read This!

by Bill Spohn » Thu Feb 19, 2009 4:24 pm

Some food porn:

Image

The Slowburger - A half pound beef patty, gruyere, onion rings, butter lettuce and pickle relish.

Image

Bacon Cheese Pizza Burger - Giant burger between two large meat pizzas, eggs, bacon, colby and pepper jack cheese.

Image

Shhh - this is Jenise's entry in T-7 the 2009 All Terrine event this August. Contains 12 different kinds of bird: large turkey filled with goose, chicken, pheasant, aylesbury and barbary duck, poussin and guinea fowl, partridge, pigeon squab, quail and mallard duck. Breast meat from 48 different birds + 8 types of stuffing. Promise you won't tell her I posted this spoiler.

Image

This was her second choice, the (in)famous Turbaconucken - A chicken inside a duck inside a turkey, all wrapped in bacon.

Image

The Double Bacon Hamburger Fatty Melt -Three bacon-stuffed grilled cheese sandwichs for buns, cheese, bacon and two four-ounce beefs patties.

Image

Giant Breakfast Burrito - A seven pound breakfast burrito stuffed with potatoes, eggs, onions, and ham bits, lots of cheese on top and smothered in red chile.

Good grief Bill - I can feel my arteries clogging just looking at that. :)

Impressive. Some of that makes the bacon explosion almost look like health food.

Bill,
I hadn't until this moment ever considered myself a "health nut." But if getting queasy looking at most of those photos (the terrine and baconturducken excepted) is what qualifies me for that status -- sign me up!

Ha! I almost posted the same thoughts, but figured everyone would assume that Stuart's influence was getting to me. :D

I've never let Stuart influence me on anything but most of those photographs turned me off.

When I lived in Minneapolis, I remember one of the hospitals installing a McDonald's inside. They'll never run out of customers--and I don't mean McD's.

I think I saw Brian Loring eat that Patty Melt once upon a time.

The pizza burger, patty melt & burrito all made me feel rather ill.

Agreed - but I was actually interested in the Turbaconucken and multi-meat terrine dishes.

Same here. But the burger in that first picture...I don't find the rest of it compelling, but that onion ring has my name on it.

That looks like most of a whole battered onion! Whack the ends off, batter and fry! Not that there is anything wrong with that....

Why in the world did they even bother with that pathetic piece of lettuce on the Slowburger!! How do you eat this kind of food? Surely it requires a fork and knife. But I can only imagine the kind of people who would order it only eat with their hands. GEESH!

Naw, Jo Ann, you just push down on the top of the bun until it flattens out to maximum mouth size and then pick it up (might have to lean on it with both hands in this case).

Of course it does help if you can unhinge your jaw..... Image
