They never stop. It grows so tiresome to fight. I guess that's what they count on.

Nothing's safe in NY, apparently. But I like the illustration of the cop hauling the Morton salt girl off in handcuffs. :)

Have you seen those folks who religiously practice Calorie Restriction? They look like cadavers.

But they say it improves their sex life. Necrophilia, anyone?

On the other hand, I saw a report on the TV yesterday (I think) that someone has developed a pill that has the equivalent of 1000 bottles of red wine worth of resveratrol in it. It's been tested on yeasts and mice and slows cell death to the point where an individual 80 years of age would have the body of a 60 year-old. One pill a day, live longer. Maybe it would countereffect all that salt. Sorry not to be able to provide a link.

I saw the same thing and thought--aha--perhaps a good company to buy stock in, but it's privately held.

There are several companies making resveratrol pills. Most of them are junk, as resveratrol (help me sci-guys) is not terribly stable.

Some seem to be more legit than others.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention that in a couple of studies mega-doses of resveratrol actually shortened the lives of mice. Enjoy!

We can and should do all we can to increase lifespans but still nature will regulate the size of the human population just as it has always regulated every population.

The much-touted life-extending properties of resveratrol have been hard to reproduce in vertebrate animal models. One study did find an effect in fish, but studies on mice have proven hard to reproduce. And the company founded by the discoverer of resveratrol's effects (Sirtris) has come up with a molecule 8000 times more effective. But they're marketing it as an anti-diabetic. Go figger!

and, in this case, sell the business of pharma giant Glaxo-Smith-Kline for a modest $720M. Someone thinks that they've got a hot property.

My God people, don't you know how dangerous salt is!?! There have been clinical tests using slugs that showed that even the smallest amount of salt on the skin can be fatal. Please, think of the children.

ROFL at the slugs.
I use sea salt. I have never understood why food manufacturers can't do the same. I know that my BP has been great since switching over to sea salt, and now they sell it in little disposable grinders for about a buck apiece.
I have a teenaged son (God help me on that one alone!) who is into quick fixes for something to eat. He loves the smack ramen noodles. He will make the chicken ones, add a small can of hormel chicken and chow down.
After reading this post, I looked on one of the pkgs. One pkg is supposed to be two servings, and he eats two pkgs at time. 350 mgs of salt per serving?!?!?!?!?
Decision time. Those darn things are going out of this house and not coming back!!!

BTW had a little incident several weeks ago in the ER with my blood glucose levels, and even through all of that, my blood pressure's highest point was 113/72. Something to be said for the sea salt!
