It's been tested on yeasts and mice and slows cell death to the point where an individual 80 years of age would have the body of a 60 year-old. One pill a day, live longer. Maybe it would countereffect all that salt. Sorry not to be able to provide a link.

The much-touted life-extending properties of resveratrol have been hard to reproduce in vertebrate animal models. One study did find an effect in fish, but studies on mice have proven hard to reproduce. And the company founded by the discoverer of resveratrol's effects (Sirtris) has come up with a molecule 8000 times more effective. But they're marketing it as an anti-diabetic. Go figger!
