Great eating John. My family does the same. Each traditional course featured seafood starting with the antipasto and proceeding to soup, fried course, baked course, 2 types of pasta finishing with a seafood salad.
Of course to eat that much food we pretty much started at 4 in the afternoon and went till 10 at night.
I was working this Christmas eve so all I managed was shrimpy linguini.
Keep up the tradition.
Mamma Mia !

Looks great. So you went to New York for Christmas? Did you and Cindy do all the cooking?

John, that looks wonderful!! I take it the Feast of the Seven Fishes is an Italian tradition? Seafood is an Australian Christmas Day tradition as well, so much so that there is a huge traffic jam around the fishmarkets every year on Christmas Eve (even at 3am in the morning!).

Yes. And yes, we did all the cooking. I'm the only one who knows how my Mom did it - though I've been trying to school my nephew in some of the preparation.
That's just Christmas Eve - the pictures don't show Christmas Day, with lasagna, stuffed mushrooms and artichokes, roast loin of pork, fruit, nuts, pastries.......

I am going to have to put some serious thought into my meals for the next month or so, because I ate a year's worth of calories in a few short weeks.

Tell me this shot doesn't make you hungry:

I honestly can't speak to how Italian it really is, but most of the Italian American families I know did some twist on an all seafood meal on Christmas Eve.
I really enjoy doing it. It's a lot of work, but it's well worth it.

That pizza makes me drool. Not that almost any good pizza shot doesn't, but I really really really love a plain cheese pizza, and my ideal of perfectly cooked (which almost never happens) has a singed crust just like yours. WOW.

Good for you for doing the cooking. Is your dad content to stay in New York? Have you tried to talk him into moving out to California to be closer to you? I know you'd feel better about being able to keep a closer eye on him, but it might be easier to remove his toe nails at this point than pull him out of the place he's spent his whole life.

My father loves NY and would never leave. He's your typical NYer - loves to complain about everything, but the thought of living anywhere else is.....unthinkable.
Besides, then I wouldn't have an excuse to get back there so often.
Does he look like he could live anywhere but NY?

You like singed crust?
