Chinese subs

by Jenise » Mon Dec 08, 2008 9:16 am

Went shopping in Vancouver yesterday and happened to drive past a take-out restaurant whose name and product are one and the same: Chinese Subs. I didn't have time to stop and investigate further, but I thought about it all the way home and have to admit that it was a total waste of my time: I cannot for the life of me imagine a combination wherein a marriage of Chinese cuisine and submarine sandwiches is a happy union. Even when I apply the Japa-dog principal--Japanese food and hot dogs shouldn't be combinable, but there's a very popular hot dog stand in Vancouver that proves me wrong.

Anyone have a clue?
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

I was just going to say ... sounds like Bahn Mi to me ... which actually make sense due to the French influence in Vietnam. I love 'em ... but you've got to get 'em at authentic Vietnamese hole-inna-walls.

I agree with Robin. I've never heard of the Chinese variety, but I've had some great Vietnamese versions from one Viet restaurant here in Albuquerque. And they're hot!
