Silly things non-cooks do

by Jenise » Sat Nov 29, 2008 3:50 pm

So on Friday I bought a little planter container in the produce section that contains growing pea sprouts. Thought that would make an excellent salad green for a dinner party I'm doing on Sunday.

My husband put it on the floor for the cats.

That's funny! Did they eat it?

It reminds me of something an old boyfriend's father said one time when he walked into their kitchen and found a wrapped stick of butter on the floor next to the fridge. Obviously it had fallen out unnoticed. He asked, "Is this supposed to be here?" He was totally serious. Not the slightest hint of sarcasm.
Hello. My name is Carrie, and I...I....still like oaked Chardonnay. (Please don't judge.)

What's so silly? My folks sometimes keep potted lettuce for one of their furry beasties who just loves the stuff.

First and foremost is our duty to the cats!

Of course they ate it! And then upchucked it all the way up the stairs. Which is what I found FIRST, of course. :) I can't have any live plants in the house as Bob Junior hasn't found the houseplant she doesn't think is edible--even desert grass types with razar-sharp leaves--and Bruce tends to misunderstand our motives in making fresh dirt available. What's new is learning that my husband misunderstands green stuff that grows in little black containers. :)
