This cracked me up.

(And some people say I don't have a sense of humor!)

There was a guy, whose name escapes me at the moment, who was all about subliminal images in advertising and packaging, wrote several oddball books about it. Found pictures of breasts and vulvas in every photo he looked at.

Just as an illustration of who I am, I deliberately didn't scroll down to the macro shots and was scanning the broccoli pic intensely, looking for genitalia. Fooled me!

(just looked him up: Wilson Bryan Key. Keep your kids away from him)

I read "Subliminal Seduction" when I was in high school. Back then, I was very much on the lookout for any representation of any part of a woman's body that was usually covered up in public. Even then, Key's stuff seemed like a stretch.

The broccoli thing is just weird, though.

I still have the book somewhere. I also have a file somewhere with several original images that were mentioned in the book. The Playboy centerfold one, though, is the best example. If I ever find it, I'll ask Robin how to post it, and then you can make up your own mind.

Vance Packards "The Hidden Persuaders" was a good read way back when.

Back then?? Sheeesh, that's current day stuff for me. Why do you think I still buy Land 'o Lakes butter in the box?

"Bite they little heads off,

Hey, I remember Subliminal Seduction. I musta been older than most of you guys; I took it seriously...initially.

The one I remember most is the one where the liquor and ice cubes were supposed to suggest the nasties somehow.
