Montreal Chicken Seasoning

by Karen/NoCA » Thu Oct 16, 2008 8:14 pm

We use the Montreal Steak Seasoning often on grilled steaks and find it to be a great product. I also use it on a killer tri-tip and onions that are roasted for 4 hours in a 250° oven, wrapped in foil. So, after finding a Montreal Chicken Seasoning last week I had to try it. A quick look in my freezer and found a package of organic chicken legs and thighs. Sprinkle and rub down all with the seasoning and on the grill they went. I served them with an onion, garlic, red and yellow bells peppers mixture, added some chicken broth, seasonings and thickened with corn starch. Chicken and peppers mixture went well with Cilantro Rice. Does anyone else use this product and like it?

Karen, I have seen the steak seasoning on the shelf locally, but, I have not purchased it yet. I will do so now that I have your take on it. Will also look for the chicken version too. Thanks. BTW, would you be so kind as to post the name brand? Thanks.

A very good product you should all look out for is the Montreal Steak Spice Rub Marinade. Just rub it on the meat before grilling but might be better with steak than chicken?

I use the steak seasoning a lot. Not just on meat, but find it is great for steamed veggies and even tossed into salad along with the dressing. Our absolute favorite use for it is to flavor EVOO for bread dipping.

Typically I steer away from "chicken" seasonings because they usually contain sage and/or poultry seasoning and I feel about those things the way Cynthia feels about cilantro, Maria feels about green peppers, and Jenise feels about mayo. :)
Hello. My name is Carrie, and I...I....still like oaked Chardonnay. (Please don't judge.)
