More NEWS about she-we-love-to-bash

by Jenise » Thu Oct 09, 2008 2:13 pm

Watch out New York! From gothamist.com:

Meat-lover Rachael Ray hasn't given up on her dream of opening up a hamburger pub in midtown. She's been talking about it for years now, but you really want to believe her (or stop her) when she tells the Post, "I'm going for a '60s back-in-the-day Rat Pack-y kind of hangout, and I want the bar to be really central [and] the burgers to become a very social thing. I want people to come to the bar to see beautiful proper martinis being made and to enjoy some sliders."

The subject came up as Ray was promoting Friday's Wine & Food Festival Burger Bash in DUMBO. She's hosting the event, which features sixteen chefs—including Tom Colicchio, David Burke, and Al Roker—competing for the title of city's best burger baron. But they're going to have their work cut out for them to impress Ray; she says, "I've always been partial to the Whopper - no mayonnaise, add mustard. In California, I love In-N-Out."
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Al Roker is a chef? I knew he had a Food Network show about travelling around eating everything he could fit in his mouth but I did not know he was a chef.

Definitely not a chef--he's a TV weatherman. Which means he probably isn't even a meteorologist.

Furthermore, and I don't mean this unkindly, but Al's name comes up often around food events and for someone who can only eat like two tablespoons of food at any one time because he had to have that stomach stapling procedure--well, I just don't get it.

Guess I should start by saying that I'm not a Ray basher, I admire her taking a concept, riding it to its zenith, making tons of bread out of it and coincidentally making a lot of folks happy to watch her and buy her products, not unlike Martha Stewart or even Oprah.
So saying!...why shouldn't she open a burger joint, the more the merrier and I bet it'll be better than a lot of the so-called elite ones comprising the group mentioned.

Yea, for Rach! What a story about a hard working gal who lived with her mom in a log cabin in the woods. No one can say she is not a hard worker and willing to share some of the profits. She must have something going for her to have come this far. She is a burger queen...I have made several of her burgers and they were outstanding. As with all of her food, the burgers are full of flavor and comforting.

Thanks, Karen. I figured it was some NYC neighborhood acronym but it's one I wasn't familiar with.

I am either one of the fortunate ones or one of the deprived as I have neither seen nor heard Rachel Ray. Nor have I read anything she wrote. One way or the other, I have the feeling that I am living "right".

You have never seen Rachael Ray? At least thank your personal diety that you have never heard her.

Shame on you Daniel, now you're displaying characteristics of that very same "big bird" you don't wanna name. Shake off those grains of sand and check her out, but don't get 'em in her food!
