Balinese Long Pepper

by Mike Filigenzi » Sat Jun 07, 2008 1:37 pm

Anyone ever try this? It showed up at a local grocery store so I bought some. A little research (on the most excellent Gernot Katzer's Spice Page ) finds them described them as hot with sweet overtones. Haven't tried them on much yet, myself. Anyone else have experience with this stuff?

The Other Stupid has a little box full of these. Very distinctive and can easily take over a dish.

I had a feeling he might have some lying around. Thanks for the heads up - I'll use them sparingly to start.
