St. Patty's Day

by Howie Hart » Tue Mar 11, 2008 2:33 pm

On Sunday I'll be having the family over for the annual corned beef & cabbage dinner. I'll be doing a couple of briskets all day in the slow cooker with cabbage, carrots and potatoes and make some raisin-caraway soda bread. Probably get some Guinness and Harp Ale. Anyone else doing the traditional meal?
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.

Always, every year. My dauaghter (born on March 18th and holding it against her parents that it wasn't the 17th) has a party on the Saturday before St. Pat's and this is her meal of choice. Over the years, her friends have become quite fond of the meal as well. We all watch Darby O'gill and the Little People and then The Quiet Man. Love it (and the stout).

One of my sons, Andy, was born December 17th. He's the only one with curly red hair and freckles.

What really makes my daughter upset is that two of her uncles, my brother Dan and my wife's brother Dan (that's weird, isn't it), were both born on St. Pat's day. I tell ya, she's still upset about being a day late.

My birthday as well, but no special celebrations planned this year. Seen a few St Patricks day celebrations in my time though

Not even green beer? Early happy birthday to you, Ian.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
