Bob, when I clicked on this post, I was sure there was going to be a reference to the Charles Schulz Peanuts strips where Linus waits in the pumpkin patch for the Great Pumpkin to arise on Halloween. What a great book review ! I'm sitting here with a big grin on my face, as I imagine completely obsessed pumpkin growers and the intensity of their passion (I love it when people are passionate about anything). Unlike most obsessive hobbies, though, it's nice to read about one where the enthusiasts share their knowledge and celebrate in each others' successes...even if they are all barking mad...
