NYTBR Food Issue

by Dale Williams » Sun May 28, 2006 8:04 am

Today's NYT Book Review is the food issue. A look at memoirs by Gael Greene, Julia Child, Molly O'Neill, theSterns, etc. Plus the new Bourdain collection, a look at the life of England's Mrs. Beeton, and the Stern book and a variety of others. Some short cookbook reviews.

A couple of humorous things. Adam Platt blows it in his review of Hugh Johnson's "A Life Uncorked" with his reference to "a red Burgundy from Chateau Figeac" (I wrote the corrections department, maybe they'll edit the online version). I also enjoyed the combination of a positive review of Gael Greene's memoirs and a swipe in the O'Neill review at the "blurring of sexual and gustatory appetites."

Oh! Thanks for the heads up. I look forward to this every year, but never remember when to expect it.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
