Corn-flour blend tortillas

by Jenise » Thu Jan 03, 2008 2:47 pm

The other day I found some corn-flour blend tortillas by tortilla giant Mission--first time I'd ever seen them, and I presume a new product. So I bought.

They're slightly larger than a standard corn tortilla, about 7 inches across but not as large as a standard flour tortilla. You can recognize both parents visually as well as in taste. In thickness they're fairly durable, and though not quite as pliable when super-heated as a flour tortilla, they roll up nicely and it's easy to hold the contents in while eating. I like them!

Jenise,

If Mission is moving into your market, keep an eye out for their “whole grain” tortilla. Looks like a standard wheat tortilla but w/ a coarser texture. I use these to make a cold breakfast roll-up w/ sliced smoked turkey and a bit of mustard. Might sound like a weird breakfast, but the tortilla has a nice nutty flavor with a chewy texture.

Protein & complex carbs for breakfast…yumm

Richard, I am already SO into those. However, my fave is to spread it with peanut butter and apricot jam. Not bad rolled around tuna salad, either!
