Food Presentation, In Pictures

by AaronW » Wed Nov 28, 2007 12:27 am

Time to get creative Forumites! Food presentation is a timeless expressive art, and I believe there is a plethora of creative food presentation pics and ideas out there that are only conceived that have yet to be realized and fulfilled. From the everyday snapshooter to the professional photographic artist, anything goes and there's no better place to display our own expressive style than right here in the Forum Kitchen. So let's see what we've got! I'll start things off.

This is a Mocha Rum Cheesecake with a dark chocolate ganache and "Forest Medley" decor. All of which is my own creation, and, yes, those are real CHOCOLATE leaves that I made, surrounded by fresh raspberries and mint sprigs. ENJOY!

From a corn themed dinner party last year, this is my corn pannacota in tomato water with American caviar and chives.

I made the pot pie for a photo shoot--well, this was a test run. The final photo was individual pot pies..

The spices are from a Bajan (say it with a hard J: Barbadian) food market I wandered to early one morning.

The fish dish is from an "Iron Chef" Style competition I judged...this guy was GOOD.

Jo Ann,

Excellent photos.

What is the dish in the last picture, the one with the garnish of bean sprouts, scallions, and chiles? It looks like some sort of stir-fried noodle dish.

A Thai/Vietnamese dish called Glazed Crispy Noodles (Mee Krawb) served in small portions as an appetizer or larger portions as a main dish. Contains tofu, shrimp and seasoned with zest of orange peel, the sweet and sour tastes of palm sugar and vinegar containing peppers and garlic. It is very good. The recipe has about 25 ingredients. But, worth the trouble.

HI, Peter
Where are you eating. That is authentic peanut sauce (I'd know it anywhere). That stuff takes hours to make and cannot be duplicated by using peanut butter as a base. As much as I don't care for peanut products, authentic Thai peanut sauce is to die for. Yum!

Lovely cake, Aaron. Isn't it FUN to make your food more beautiful?

And Bernard, that corn panna cotta is absolutley stunning.

You guys make me think I should photograph my food more often.

This was not the thread to view late in the day while starving at work. Great photos one and all.

Jo Ann,
Peter is probably still in Singapore - or probably was when that pic was taken. A stopover on his way home from New Zealand.
Cheers,
Sue.

It is indeed Singapore, in one of these restaurants along the Boat Quay. I'd already started on the Tiger and had a couple of sate sticks when I thought the presentation deserved a photo...
