Giada de Laurentiis

Did you read that Giada is expecting a baby girl? She is 37 years old and seems to be happy with her career.....way to go Giada.

I used to like watching Giada - probably the favourite female of the Food Network stars but does she ever make anything she doesn't like, anything that doesn't make her eyes roll in ecstasy, anything that is not 'just delicious' or not 'just perfect',. I understand the Food Network concept, but wonder if she ever spits anything out after the cameras have stopped rolling.

Hope her pregnancy is uneventful and the little one arrives safe and well. It the perfect opportunity to spurn off a program on cooking for mums to be.

Well, congratulations to her. She's matured into a better, more likeable and confident person than I gave her credit for being based on her early shows. My only real complaint is the huge, stretch-to-the-walls smile that looks exaggerated and unnatural to me. She can't talk while smiling, she has to stop everything to smile--it's like she's submitting her teeth for examination.

You haven't seen her in HD yet! It's even more painful when she's larger than life size.

The only boon is that you can put her in squished mode and her head and mouth regain more normal proportions. Doesn't help the moaning. I did enjoy her chicken piccatta recipe last week, though.

Wow, Carrie, I thought I was the only person who saw her show this way. My husband and son told me I was a playa' hate'a when I mentioned this. I also believe Almost Home Made is the same show for the older crowd. I mean, can their tee shirts get any smaller and plunge any lower? But, Giada's too toothy smile is why I eventually stopped watching the show. Jo Ann, I had never given it any thought until someone wrote an article someone shared here long ago that identified the "soft porn" filming style for food network shows--and it especially named her show as a culprit. Since then, her tops have gotten lower and that smile has gotten bigger. She knows, and she's working it.

Isn't the old saying "if you got it, flaunt it"? then Joe Namath declared, "if you can do it, you aren't bragging. She beats the bluejeans off RR, both in her cooking and in her personal appearance, or is it just a case of "guys like her"?

Point made Tim, Bob and Ray. The responses from my husband and son and comments like yours is what made me realize long ago that this show is not about food.

As much of a DOM as I am, I just don't find her attractive in the least (and I'm someone who is usually intrigued by large mouths). She's certainly a better cook than Rachel Ray, but that's setting the bar pretty low. I've tried watching the show, but after 5 or 10 minutes, I end up wandering off to do something more interesting, like folding socks.

My main interest in watching Giada de Laurentiis is that her recipes are easy to do, taste wonderful and don't insult my intelligence like Rachel Ray does.

Not exactly. I truly appreciate a man who knows his way around the kitchen -- one who knows what a kitchen is for. I just think there are better places to display T&A (pardon my French). BTW, I happen to think Giada is drop-dead gorgeous, and an okay cook (let's face it, she doesn't do anything too complicated). It's just that Everyday Italian happens not to be a food show, and I don't think the FoodNetwork or the rest of us should pretend that's what it is. But, enough about her. You are too smart a guy to not understand what is being said here. I'm over this conversation. See ya!
