I volunteered to teach some elementary students how to measure with measuring cups and spoons. Plus I showed them how to make something from scratch (their idea of from scratch is to cut slices off a cookie dough tube and bake them).
I also brought in some elderberry syrup my cousin made from her elderberry bush, and convinced half of the class to try it. Those who tried it liked it.
Then I got copied on an email the teacher sent out. Grandpa?
Parents,
Today we started our first baking class. Dalia and Jay made Magic
Oven Pancakes with Grandpa Larry. (Each student will have a chance
to learn to bake something with one of the seasoned citizens who will
come to class.)
The recipe for Magic Oven Pancakes is in your son/daughter's
backpack.
Sidenote: Larry brought in elderberry syrup for the students to try.
Thank you, Larry.
