Perhaps, but I have never had beach sand prepared and served correctly either, at least not correctly enough to suit my taste ;)

I figure there will be time enough in the nursing home for non-chewable food...

Ok, so back to the original issue of the pasta diet. You may want to try just eating your pasta for lunch. Skipping those carbs in the evening. Another thing that helps is eating a large salad before the pasta. I too have tried the whole wheat variety of pasta and found it wasnt "as" good but was ok as long as it was hot. When it got cold, I had a hard time getting it down.

Another thing that may really help is to incorporate some simple weight training. Muscle burns fat!
