It is a joy, that Sundial Bridge and our beautiful Sacramento River going right through the middle of town.

Indeed it is. My son and I make an annual trip to Hayfork (in the Trinity alps). The drive to Redding gorgeous through Mt. Lassen. The area east of Redding, Whiskeytown Lake and beyond is also breathtaking.

Isn't it? I grew up in Eureka, and have made that beautiful drive hundreds of times. It is breathtaking, as you said. Although it is sad what is happening in the Trinity area.....with all the marijuana growers.

The FCC has no power over the internet, we're all adults, and we don't censor. Heck, even I've dropped the occasional F bomb. You must have missed my tasting note titled "F*ckers on a Boat".

Ahem.

Fuck.
That.
Place.

Cheers,

Don't judge so quickly....please. His wife is called Chicken, however she does have a given name, which I cannot recall at the moment. She is called Chicken, because years ago, when they lived elsewhere, a party was going on at their home. One of her chickens escaped the coop, and family dog decided to eat it. Chicken (as she is called now) rescued the bird, took care of injuries, and the chicken was fine to continue doing what chickens do. Since then, their friends call her Chicken. She seems to like it, and even tho the rest of us find it quirky, so be it. Really Bill, is that language necessary? :? The last I heard from our local talk show, it that the FCC does not allow such language. Not sure how you get away with it here.
Anyway, Anselmo's It is a really great place to visit, dine and enjoy the beauty of the mountains, and wine. You may want to bring your own wine however, because we are basically country folk, cowboys and mountain men! :)

Hello Karen,

I was joking about preferring elegant names for women. I could care less what people are called, name their kids etc. (though I have a strong dislike for the name Eustace.) I rather enjoy a good nickname and a good story about how it was coined. It seems that our Chicken has one. Hey, good for her!

However, I have a huge problem with the elitist bullshit inscribed in the commandments to be seated in that particular restaurant. I happen to own a tattoo visible above my tuxedo collar and other than a few colorful expletives dropped here and there in the good name of emphasis, I still consider myself to be a civilized, and when the occasion calls for it, elegant person. My knee-jerk reaction is to get offended when anyone, especially ‘someone matching my description’ is discriminated against.

No hard feelings, really. You’re probably a wonderful person even if you don’t have tattoos and never cuss.

Cheers,
Bill

P.S. Please don’t get me started on those motherfuckers at the FCC.

Men's shorts can't extend below the knee but women can wear capri pants?

The author of these guidelines is stuck in the early 1960s, I think.

I think the issue here, which might not be in your area, is the trend now for some young boys and men to wear their shorts way too large, hence they drop below the knees, and also below the butt.I actually saw a guy in the supermarket last week with his butt (covered with bright red plaid underwear) hanging out over the top of the belt. I must not have been the only one who found it disgusting, because the store manager ushered him out of the store.

I think this place is having growing pains, and some miscommunication with whomever is writing the dress code. It has been all over the place and not clear. For one thing, being a working ranch, some folks thought they could go out there right off the farm. With the opening of the upscale dining, event center, etc. they want folks to look better, and I don't blame them. Everything out there is first class, from landscaping, food, to the care they give all the animals. We have been out there many times, always dress more on the business casual side. I think the problem is more with the men, from what I have observed. The women seem to get it!

Even with the influx from So. CA and other states into our area, some of the men still think this is the wild west.
