We could be married! :) For iced tea (of which I'm an admitted addict) I've been drinking Lipton all my life and not liked any other brand as much, but an overnight stay in Canada wherein the hotel tea was Red Rose converted me 100%. Best tea for iced tea I've ever had by a mile. In fact just this past Monday, I discovered I'd be out by Wednesday and panic set in--I was over the border an hour later, restocking.

Drink Constant Comment iced to accompany many foods that doesn't go well with wine. Do I have to give you up for Howie? :(

Tho we usually drink our ice tea straight, we have always had ice tea spoons in the house. Don't think we've ever bought a set of stainless that didn't include them. They are useful for all sorts of tasks.

Good point. I ordered a set of stainless iced tea spoons on eBay, I think they even match our "good" stainless.

Long handled iced tea spoons have many uses. I use one when I drink buttermilk. I always salt and pepper my buttermilk and the long handle lets me get all the way to the bottom of the glass for stirring the kosher salt. IMO, one of the best breakfasts one can have is a goodly portion of steel cut oats, buttered and sweetened with Splenda, an English muffin, and a big glass of ice cold buttermilk.

If you mean an iced tea spoon -- as I said, I turned to eBay, but probably any place that sells flatware, like Crate and Barrel or maybe Bed Bath and Beyond. Then again that may depend on what part of the country you're in. I guess they are easier to find in the South.

No, Lou dear, I love Constant Comment too. But I would tire easily of drinking the same thing all the time, as with wine, and the Red Rose is, you might say, my "house" tea.

Speaking of Constant Comment, there's a spiced tea blend up here that's all the rage called Market Spice. Many who otherwise would drink Constant Comment drink this instead, but I can't stand it. I call it "dental tea". That's because it contains clove oil, or at least something that tastes exactly like the clove oil that a dentist once used as a natural local anaesthetic on me when he capped all my upper front teeth--that flavor leaked out for days and poisoned the taste of all my food. To this day I feel ill just smelling it.

Howie,
I found the Red Rose tea at our local Meijers store, and I agree that is one mighty fine tea. It quickly became my favorite. I have to try the orange peel trick too.

My iced tea doesn't turn cloudy anymore. I used to boil the water and then put the tea bags in to steep. Now I start the water with the bags in the cold water and never let the water come to a rolling boil. When the water starts to steam, I take it off the burner and let it steep for 30 minutes, after which I mix the concentrate with the sweetened water and stir. it somehow does not get cloudy in the fridge. Also, I now use Howie's Red Rose tea which is the best I have ever had.

Cold water isn't neccessary, but water below the boiling point is to my tastes best--less tannin, more delineation of flavor.

I never refrigerate tea, btw, just make a very concentrated version new each day for pouring over ice as the mood strikes. And make that "Howie and Jenise's Red Rose tea". :) Best tea for iced tea ever. But watch out--Lipton's bought the brand, which fills me with fear.
