I've never really liked hot dogs. Still don't. I don't find them revolting, as I did when I was a kid, but I don't think they'll ever be a food of choice for me.

Damn, we can't have a thread without Palin coming into it.

Carl, when you first posted this, I noticed your differentiation without understanding what it meant. But last night while catching up on a back episode of Anthony Bourdain in which he tours Maine, I now do. Is the difference merely the dye?

Yup. Can't understand why so many people go for them. Must be inbred.

Really were an atrocious acid kool-aid kind of color--especially on an HD TV!

OK, I'm mystified. I didn't find one mention of Palin (either Sarah or Michael) in this thread.

I know longer eat hotdogs, but when I still did, I liked mustard, diced onion, grated cheddar and chili on 'em.

Has anyone here ever had a Pink's hotdog in LA? I never have and would just love to try one!

YES! They're great; and sometimes limousines full of famous people pull up and place orders. (Good to see you, Karen.)

I am old fashioned and simple. I like them steamed or cooked in a hot liquid. On a good bun, not too large, with chopped onion and a good deli mustard. Sometimes I like natural casing other times skinless. I prefer a thicker longer dog as well....quarter pounders are nice.

My wife doesn't care for them so every couple of weeks I grab one for lunch at Costco and less often at Sam's Club. Of course at every fair I go to I/ have to order a foot long.

What Lou said:

I'm beginning to feel guilty because no matter how much you dress up a pig it's still just a pig. Same with a dog. IMHO
Now if you want to talk about hamburgers they are a totally different "animal".
