Gosh, Tex, too bad you're going to wash all that great meat down with that dreck. I, personally, would drink them all--I no longer have birthdays, I have birthfortnights which straddle the weeks before and after so that I have more days on which to be kind to myself with respect to the wine cellar. One day is not enough!

1992 Penfolds Grange
2004 Penfolds Bin 60A
2004 Penfolds Cabernet Sauvignon Block 42 Kalimna

Tex,

Thanks for reposting the menu. Nicely done and I look forward to your report after the feast.

You may wish to change your password. We both know you posted the menu which ended up being deleted by someone and shortly thereafter someone was able to post under your name.

Good call on the password. No idea how anyone could ever know or guess it though.

Will definitely post pics and a write up of the dinner.

Added 1996 Salon to the wine list.

I'm no board software geek, but I'm guessing a moderately distracted moderator hit "edit" rather than "reply", and accidentally deleted Bill's menu while leaving the comment.

Re Omaha steaks- haven't had in years, but my memories are mostly of those filets wrapped in bacon. Hey, at least they had bacon. Qualitywise, no better than average supermarket beef.
My mental "hierarchy" (though an individual Lugers porterhouse might be better than an individual Flannery, etc- this is meat, not coca-cola)
Lobels/Flannery (Bryan is about 60% of cost of Lobels)
Lugers mailorder
Niman Ranch, costco prime, d'artagnan
stew leonards (local dairy store with good beef)
Costco choice
better local supermarkets (including "certified Black angus " stuff), Omaha
crappier local markets
